Appalachian Chic
This was the third project we collaborated on with this young couple. Initially, we helped decorate their condo. Then, after the birth of their first child, we helped personalize a modern Chicago single-family home. Following COVID, and with an expanded family, they made the decision to move back to their hometown of State College, PA, be closer to family, and build their forever home.
At our first conceptual meeting, the husband mentioned his inspiration was “Appalachian Chic”- white walls for their colorful abstract art coupled with black iron, raffia, natural woods, and stone paying homage to the lot’s hilltop setting.
The interior needed to maximize live and work spaces, natural light, and views to the outside.
What resulted, after nearly two years, is an open floorplan, flooded with light, sprinkled with eclectic, urban touches. The architecture of the home is modern hybrid and is quite forward-thinking compared to other homes in the area.
Lucky for us, we are starting work on a fourth project. Pinch us! There is no higher honor than shepherding a family through multiple homes and stages of life.
